When one thinks of QR codes, one thinks of a black and white grid with a purpose and destination page. However, in the context of Singapore - it is more than that. Owing to the abundance of these codes in the environment - functional or not - these prove to be urban ornaments. This project examines QR codes as urban ornamentation in the Singaporean context to establish it as an identity for local lifestyle and experience on the island. LASALLE College of the Arts, 2023
This project started as a visual research in Singapore and takes final form in an interactive and abstract A0 poster. At first glance it does not visually represent Singapore, yet invites viewers to find out themselves what the poster is about. The caption - “Scan Here, Explore There” does not give the viewer any clue as to what they are scanning, but simply the fact that they are exploring a place.
